Chicago Children’s Museum

Complimentary admission to any adult attending the conference (06/18 – 06/24)

Join us at Chicago Children’s Museum, located right on Lake Michigan at Navy Pier, for a firsthand look at unique exhibits that invite learning through play. A brand new, can’t-miss exhibit is Moen Presents Water City, a new water experience featuring a miniature Chicago cityscape where rivers and channels meander between skyscrapers that immerse visitors in falling, flowing, sprinkling, pooling, squirting, and misting water. Explore exhibits on your own and leave inspired.

International Museum of Surgical Sciences

Discounted admission to IDC ’23 attendees during the conference (06/19 – 06/23)

The IMSS features exhibits from around the world and traces the fascinating story of surgery’s development through the ages. The educational focus of the IMMS focuses on grades 4 and up, and includes interactive art and artifacts which connect to several themes of IDC ’23, including learning about surgery through history, technology, and cultural studies. This is especially true in the current special exhibit Bodies: III which displays objects designed in collaboration with a group of college students to explore fundamental ideas of ability and the body.

The IMSS is housed in a historic mansion on Lake Shore Drive and is about a 15 min bus ride or 25 minute walk from the conference venue. During the conference (6/19-6/23), IDC attendees can present their conference badge to visit the IMSS for $15 and receive $1 OFF for $20 spent, and $5 OFF for every $50 they spend at the IMSS gift shop.
